MANPOWER FORECAST

Know where your people go next, and when you need the next job.

Every person, field and office, on one timeline by project. See who's on overhead and get suggestions for who goes where next.

The problem

"Where does the Smith Residence crew go in March?" lives in one person's head.

Most contractors plan staffing on a whiteboard, a spreadsheet or memory. It works until two jobs slip, a super quits, or you realize in May that half your team runs out of work in July.

Overhead sneaks up on you

Good people sitting between jobs cost you payroll with no project to bill it to.

You bid blind

Without a clear view of who's free when, you chase the wrong work, or win a job you can't staff.

Your people ask what's next

When there's no answer, your best people start looking for one somewhere else.

How it works

The spreadsheet you'd build if you had the time.

1

Bring in your people

Import from a spreadsheet or add people by hand. Each person just needs a name and a role. This isn't an HR system; it's a planning board.

Importing people and projects from a CSV file
Adding a Bidding project with win odds
2

Put them on projects

Assign people to jobs with start and end dates. Add work you're chasing as Bidding, with high, medium or low odds, so you can see what it would do to your schedule before you win it.

3

See the gaps before they cost you

Anyone not on a project shows up as Overhead, in orange. Filter by role, project or person. When a job needs a super in June, it suggests who's free and fits the role.

Monthly summary

A short email with what's ending, what's open and where Overhead is building.

A good fit for

General contractors and subcontractors with roughly 10 to 100 people, where the owner or an operations lead decides who goes where.

Not built for

Payroll, HR records or daily crew scheduling. It plans months ahead, not tomorrow morning.

Where it came from

It started as an X in a spreadsheet.

Years ago I built a sheet with every employee down the side, months across the top, and an X wherever someone was busy. Contractors loved it because it was simple. One still runs their company on it. Manpower Forecast keeps that simplicity and adds real dates, roles and a way for the whole team to see it.

Questions

What does "Overhead" mean?

Any time a person isn't assigned to a project. It's what you're paying for with no job to bill it to.

What's "Bidding"?

Work you're pursuing but haven't won. Mark it high, medium or low odds, then flip it to won or lost.

How do assignment suggestions work?

When a project has an open slot, it shows who's coming free at the right time with the right role, so you can fill it in a couple of clicks.

Can I import my current spreadsheet?

Yes. Upload a CSV of your people and roles. The import page walks you through the format.

Do I need a credit card for the trial?

Yes. We email you 3 days before the first charge. Cancel before then and you pay nothing.

What happens if I cancel?

Your forecast goes read-only. Nothing is deleted.

Does it work with Production Tracking?

Yes. Production Tracking uses the same login and account. Each tool is priced on its own.
